Statement of purpose

1. Introduction
This Statement of Purpose has been produced in accordance with Regulation 12 and Schedule 3 of the Care Quality Commission (Registration) Regulations 2009 (as amended). It sets out clear information about Avondene Care Home, including who we are, the services we provide, and our commitment to residents, families, professionals and regulators.

This document is available to residents, relatives, representatives, staff, professionals and the Care Quality Commission (CQC). Alternative and accessible formats can be provided on request.

Christchurch Housing Society was established in 1946 with the aim of providing accommodation and care services for older people.

3. Description of the Service and Location
Avondene Care Home was acquired in 1986 and is situated in a quiet residential area of Stanpit, Christchurch. The home is set within proximity of Avon Beach/ Seafront, a public park and local shops with only a short distance to Christchurch high street. Avondene also owns a small patch of well – maintained gardens, providing a calm and safe environment for residents whilst keeping in touch with the local community. 

 

The service provides accommodation and residential care for up to 11 residents. Bedrooms and communal areas are designed to promote comfort, dignity, privacy and independence. Residents are encouraged to personalise their rooms where possible. A wide range of activities are held both in- house and out in the community. 

 

4. Regulated Activities
Accommodation for persons who require residential care including respite and palliative care where necessary. Avondene work closely with outside healthcare professionals for any additional needs. This ensures that our residents continue to remain in a home from home environment wherever possible.

Residents may have a range of physical, health-related or emotional needs requiring ongoing care support.

The aim of Avondene Care Home is to provide a safe, supportive and homely environment where residents receive high-quality, person-centered residential care, promoting dignity, independence, choice and wellbeing.

10. Management and Leadership

The Registered Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the service and ensuring regulatory compliance and high standards of care. Governance responsibilities are shared with the Registered Provider.

 

11. Governance and Compliance
The service maintains an up-to-date Statement of Purpose, reviews it annually or sooner if changes occur, notifies CQC and other relevant bodies of changes, and ensures staff work in accordance with this.
